PINTERESTingly enough I have to admit to a new addiction…Pinterest.
I only came across Pinterest at the end of last year and I am wondering how on earth I ever managed without it? Pinterest has joined my children, cats, DSLR, chocolate and cake in my reserved for a select few, box of LOVES.
For those of you that haven’t come across Pinterest yet I really would recommend giving it a go. What’s it about? Well, basically it’s an online collection of personal pin-boards where you can pin all the things you love from around the internet. You can create pin-boards for any subject that takes your fancy and collect your inspirations there.
I have lots of pin-boards, each one dedicated to a separate topic, such as recycled crafts, sensory activities, painting, party ideas. I find it so fantastic to be able to collect all the wonderful ideas I spot around the internet in one place. Gone are the days of trying to add links to my bookmarks or scribbling down notes of web addresses to revisit later. Inevitably I would look at my saved lists and not have a clue what the things were I’d saved or why I’d saved them without having to click-through them all. Now, using Pinterest (did I tell you how much I love it?) I can collect everything I want to using gorgeous pictures. I can organize them on my pin-boards in a way that suits me and I have an immediate visual reminder from the pinned picture, of what and where the link leads to.
Visually I’m sure you’ll find Pinterest really beautiful and I often find that I’ve lost myself in it for longer than I’d planned because it is so inspirational and there are so many stunning images on there. It’s social too so you can follow other like-minded pinners and see what they’re pinning and pick your favourites for your own boards, and you can ‘like’ and comment on other people’s pins as well. It really is a stroke of simple genius.
I use Pinterest a lot for my own crafting inspiration and also for ideas for the work I do with preschoolers and for activities to do with my own children too. I really wish it had been available when I was teaching, it would have saved me hours and hours of searching for an idea I knew I’d seen somewhere once.
One of my favourite pin boards is my Children’s Crafts board it’s where I collect together all the wonderful craft activities I spot on my travels around the internet and also from Pinterest itself. My children and I often look at it for ideas of things to try at home and I also use it to share our own crafts so that other pinners can see them too.
If you’re already on Pinterest I’d love to come over and follow me, you can find all of my boards here and if you’re new to Pinterest and don’t have an account yet then what are you waiting for? You can zip over and start pinning right now using this registration link. It only takes a minute and I’m sure once you’re there you’ll love it as much as I do.
This blog post is a part of the #PinItForwardUK campaign. Passionate bloggers from across the UK have been selected to showcase their personal tastes, talents and inspirations. The bloggers write about a range of subjects, all representing popular categories found on Pinterest and My Little 3 and Me have been invited to take part *excitedly jumps up and down*
We are all posting one after the other so having done mine I would now like to introduce Leanne Garrity from Chi Chi Dee Handmade who will be posting about the campaign tomorrow. She designs and makes her own independent fashion label, so a talented lady. She’s showcasing her Tutorials Board where she shows you how to make a number of beautiful things. I’ve got my eye on her lavender pyramids.
